Sale of Pre-owned Equipment in Africa - Crushing, Screening and Concrete Equipment

Johannesburg – South Africa – February 2016

With private equity multinationals continuing to invest Africa, 2016 is showing huge potential for sales of South African quality pre-owned crushing, screening and concrete equipment. Sub-Saharan Africa still treats South Africa as the ‘’engine room’’ and continues to trust and appreciate the level of service that South African suppliers are able to provide.

Marsay Equipment, specialists in the supply of pre-owned stone crushing and screening equipment, reports that the since the beginning of 2016, enquiries from construction and mining sector from this region have been buoyant.

“Although the disastrous slide of the Rand has had a devastating effect on most of the local economy, it has the potential to make South Africa the ‘’go to’’ source for good quality reconditioned mining and construction equipment. The majority of sub-Saharan countries ‘’think’’ in US dollars and this has a distinct advantage in our sector of the market ” says Marsay Equipment’s Managing Director, Tim Marsay. ‘’We now tend to quote in US Dollars as opposed to our previous standard procedure of quoting in SA Rands – in fact most African countries have no clue what the value of the Rand is and insist on been quoted in US Dollars.

‘’In order to reach the sub Saharan market effectively we have had to have a major turnabout in our marketing strategies’’ says Tim Marsay. ‘’Due to the soaring expenses of print advertising, hard copy now plays a much smaller role whereas our website and other digital avenues acts as the primary source of new clients outside South Africa and in fact the same applies to within our borders also. Being a company that specialises in the relatively niche market of crushing and concrete equipment, we are able to focus and give serious attention to our search engine optimisation and thus achieve top organic search results. Paid search and an effective bulk-mail strategy also play significant roles in driving website and telephone enquiries. I can confidently say that almost 100% of our new enquiries from outside the country are initiated from our electronic marketing. Repeat business is also becoming a major factor in our turnover due to the fact that not only do we supply quality recondition equipment, but we also supply the additional services of reliable transport, border clearance, spares supply and after sales assistance.”

We are excited about our business prospects emanating from north of our borders in the foreseeable future. This year we have already made sales in DRC, Zambia, Zimbabwe and are currently dealing with additional enquiries from Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania and Nigeria.
