Johannesburg – South Africa – May, 2012
Marsay Equipment has taken advantage of the fact the South Africa is still regarded as the “engine room” of Africa. Even countries as far away as Guinea and Liberia in West Africa, which are equidistant from the European market, recognise the fact that South Africa is a reliable source of good reconditioned stone crushing and mining equipment.
Marsay Equipment is supplying the equipment to European based mining companies, which are working on numerous projects in this region. According to Marsay Equipment’s Managing Director, Tim Marsay, the company is hoping through these recent transactions, to get a foot in the door to supply further stone crushing and mining equipment for mining projects in other West African countries.
Marsay says it appears that throughout Africa, the high GDP growth is making European entrepreneurs turn their attention from their local economies, to resources and diamond mining opportunities in the region.
There also seems to be an awakening of interest from SADC countries, especially Namibia, Zambia and the DRC for reconditioned stone crushing and mining equipment from Marsay Equipment. The right sounds are also starting to come from Zimbabwe from smaller scale, independent mine operators.
The significant difference between South Africa and European countries as a source of used equipment seems to be that we can be relied on. According to the company’s MD, Tim Marsay, we are in a position to offer clients exactly what they want, and ensure efficient delivery in a shorter turnaround time, “In addition”, adds Marsay, “we offer an unparalleled service and spares back-up such as assistance with commissioning of plants, supply of operating and maintenance instruction and also to offer a reliable source of new, and if necessary, good used spares.”
