The function of a jaw crusher is to reduce the size of larger rocks for the aggregate industry such as concrete stone and road stone as well as reduce the size of mineral ore for the mineral extraction process. The jaw crusher is the primary crusher in the crushing process because of its ability to take relatively large pieces of rock/ore and reduce them to sizes that are managable for secondary crushers such as cone crushers and impact crushers.

Crushers are very hardy well built machines in order to cope with the stresses of breaking down hard material, thus crushers - including jaw crushers, cone crushers and impact crushers - have a relatively long life span. Due to this long lifespan the market for used crushers and reconditioned crushers is very active. Used crushers give a less expencive option to buyers while at the same time offering just as much in terms of quality as more expensive new crushers.
